Privatization

I was reading a political article today when I stumbled across this quote from Senator Obama; "If Senator McCain is elected, 100 million Americans will not get a tax cut ... your health care benefits will get taxed for the first time in history ... we'll have another president who wants to privatize part of your Social Security." I could debate the factual accuracy of the first two points, but quite frankly, I am tired of arguing about things I know are not true. The real beauty in this quote happens to be the last part . If John McCain is elected, we will have a president that wants to privatize social security. Now, for you anti corporate democrats who have probably already deleted this message from your inbox, let me explain the word privatize. The definition may be a bit confusing to you, but I will do my best to explain. Here it goes, the laymans definition to privatize. Let you decide how to invest your social security money. Wow. Hopefully you sat down before you read this and if you did not, hopefully you didn't hit your head when you passed out from all the fear. Yes, Mr. Obama, we know we are too stupid, as American citizens, to invest our own money wisely. The federal government is way smarter than me is. I just now got the hang of securing my velcro shoes, sir. Please won't you help me spend my money. I know I sound like I have just gone over the edge because of this election, and truth be told, I probably have. But we are letting Obama treat us like we are a bunch of stupid, ignorant people. He has a law degree, which obviously puts him way above us. The liberals continue to feed his ego, and will do so again tonight by tuning in to his Ron Popeil like infomercial. "Just set it and forget it." Or, in the context of Obama's tax plan, "Just send it and forget it." The only thing that would make the infomercial worth watching is if they had Ron Popeil in the background using his patented spray on hair. Now that would be worth my thirty minutes. Any way, back to social security. I want to quote a letter I received from Senator Richard Lugar of Indiana, in response to a letter I had written him about my fears of the social security system. I expressed the fact that workers of my generation will not receive social security unless we fix it. All the money will be gone by the time we retire.  Here is what he wrote back to me. "Currently, three wage earners pay Social Security taxes to fund the benefits for every one retiree. However, by 2030, there will be only two wage earners per retiree." He continues by saying the current Social Security system we have in place "......is projected to be solvent through 2041." In other words, after 2041, no Social Security fund. Chalk another one up for Mr. Obama. I know most of you have some sort of retirement program already set up and would venture to bet that most of you will have funds that will be solvent well past 2041. As citizens, we are smarter than the government when it comes to investing our own money. It's time to step up and quit buying into this "government knows best" philosophy. Have some pride in your self and be ready to make decisions for your own future. Next time you think you want more government involvement in our lives, stop by the local drivers license bureau and wait in line to get a new license. Just think. In a couple of years, if Obama is elected, that drivers license bureau could be the hospital waiting room. Scary, huh?

"Let The Government Decide"

I was having a conversation with a liberal leaning aquantance, whose name I will not disclose for my own safety. We were discussing people receiving government aid who probably do not need the assistance. They are the people who are perfectly capable of working a forty hour work week, but because Uncle Sam sends them a check every month, they decide instead to stay at home and "keep the house clean." They provide nothing to society because our United States government has decided that they are not capable of working. In some cases, I will admit, aid is necessary. There are those people who need financial help and are not capable of working. To those people, I have no problem with the government sending them assistance. However, there are just as many people who are taking advantage of our system full of loopholes. My Democratic aquantaince told me not to be bitter about those who receive government aid when they do not need it, and to simply "Let the government decided if a person needs it or not." Well, the problem with that theory is that we have let the government make that decision year after year and the dishonest people are still receiving checks. It is time to make a decision as a country. We have got to get back to the way it used to be. Back to the time when nothing was free. If you are capable of working thirty hours a week, but do not work forty because that would mean you would not get your monthly check from the government, then you should not be getting a check from the government at all. If you are getting a check for being "disabled," but you are able to lift a beer can to your mouth every night, I'm sure you could find some job, somewhere, that would pay you for your newfound energy. The system is flawed and we, as citizens, are letting this corruption of the system happen. It is because of these dishonest people that the people who actually need government aid have to jump through hoops to get it. It is simply not fair. But back to my conversation the other night. The "Let the government dicide....." theory leaves out one very important fact. As citizens of this great country, we the people are the government. They work for us. We hire them. It is not the other way around. We do not work for the government. If you rely on big government you will pay big in the end. So many people think that they are powerless when it comes to the government, and that is why we get our country into so many unfavorable positions. We have forgotten the first three words to the Constitution of the United States of America, We The People. The government is made up of all of us. Tell them what you think and do not be afraid to speak your mind. That is our power over the government. If we do not like what they are doing, we can elect a new leader or a new congress. If we continue to let the government function without saying what is on our minds, do we actually expect them to change the way they are doing things? If we assume that they will, we are in for a big suprise. Hopefully, when we wake up as a nation and figure out that we have the power to change things we do not think is right, it is not too late!

Biden Angered Over "Tough" Questions

Joe Biden became angered over what he believed to be tough questions during an interview by WFTV, a television station out of Orlando Florida. During the interview, Barbara West, the stations representative, quoted Karl Marx. She asked Biden whether Obama was comparable to Karl Marx as she read a quote from Marx which reads, "From each according to his abilities to each according to his needs." In other words, take from those who have and give to those who do not have. Spread the wealth, if you will. Sounds pretty familiar, doesn't it? If you have heard a speech from Obama it should. That is exactly what Obama has been preaching for the past several months. Spread the wealth. Senator Biden asked the interviewer if she was asking a real question. He seemed perplexed that someone in the media would be asking a liberal politician such a difficult question. It is ok to ask questions about how much Sarah Palin's outfit costs, but we cannot ask comparable questions in regards to Senator Obama's stance on issues that will affect Americans if he should be elected to the highest office in the land. An obvious double standard. The Obama camp immediately put out a statement saying that the WFTV news station would not be granted any more interview time with the campaign and imediately canceled an interview that was scheduled between WFTV and Senator Biden's wife. Makes you wonder what they will do if they are actually elected. Will we, as citizens, be able to ask tough questions of an Obama - Biden white house or will they simply deny us access to our leaders if we do ask tough questions? Kind of scary if you stop and think about it. This is a Presidential election for crying out loud. Our media should be allowed to ask tough questions of our politicians. That is what makes our country great. The American people have to answer to their bosses just as our politicans should have to answer to their bosses, the American people. Simply cutting off those who ask the tough questions will only lead to more propoganda on behalf of the media and will do nothing to correct our corrupt government. Biden was also asked whether or not he was embarassed by the recent allegations of voter registration fraud, in regards to ACORN. He replied by saying that the Obama campaign has not paid ACORN one cent to register a single voter. Is that the case? In fact, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, the Obama campaign donated 800,000 dollars to an ACORN subsidary. Now, I am sure that the Obama campaign did not give the money to ACORN and tell them to register fraudulent voters, but that would be like giving a crack head 100 dollars and not expecting them to spend it on crack. Wake up people. The Democratic party is sinking to new lows, and we are actually thinking about giving them four years in the White House! You have to be kidding me! The sad part is this. Tomorrow, when you turn on your television, I would venture to say that you will hear more about Sarah Palin's wardrobe than you will about Biden's interview, the Obama camp basically censoring what we hear from them and about Obama's donation to a radical group we like to call ACORN. What is that saying my dad used to say to me when I was a kid? I think it was something like "The ACORN doesn't fall far from the tree."

Mark Joe Biden's Words

I could not believe my ears when Joe Biden was tape recorded saying that America would be faced with a "generated crisis" early on in an Obama Presidency that would be generated to test the resolve of the new president. Was this quote supposed to make Americans more comfortable with the idea of an Obama presidency? The quote comes from Joe Biden, who during the Democratic primary season was saying that Obama lacked the experience to handle foreign crisis and would even be dangerous as a president. If you need the proof of this, read the transcript from the democratic debates that were held earlier this year. You will be interested to read what Biden had to say about Obama just a few short months ago.  Now he is promising that the cirsis Obama would not be experienced enough to handle will happen early in the Obama administration. Makes you feel good doesn't it? I will say this for Biden. I agree with him. We will face another possible attack under Obama, simply for the fact that the Democratic stance on terrorism is so weak. We ignored the truth during the Clinton years (read my blog Change....We've Tried This Before), so why would four years of Obama be any different? They wouldn't. I have confidence that under a McCain - Palin administration, the terrorists would know who they were dealing with and would be walking on thin ice when it came to the security of our country. McCain gets it, and to my surprise last night, so does Joe Biden. He knows what would happen and why it would happen. He said it himself. Decide for yourself on election day. Vote for the man that will reopen the door for terrorist business or vote for the man who will keep the door shut for good!!!

Sharing the Wealth

We heard both candidates talk about it dozens of times during last nights debate. Sharing the wealth. Letting the governement decide whether or not you make too much money, and if they think you do, taking some from you and giving to your neighbor. Are you kidding me? Has our country really gotten to this point, and if so, why in the world did we let it? Taking money from people who have worked hard for their current position in society and giving to people who do not work is not the way to go. By taking this approach to government, we are promoting laziness and a "the world owes me" attitude. Why would it be worth it to get ahead? You would be waking up every morning to go to work not only for yourself and your own family, but also for the unemployed alcoholic that lives down the street. Great idea Barack. Just a little sidenote that I heard on television last night; Joe Biden is  a huge supporter of Obama's income redistribution. Senator Biden made 2.5 million dollars last year and only gave 3600 dollars to charity. Sounds like a man who cares about the poor doesn't it? They care alright, at least when they're caring with your money!

National Health Care

Well friends, the final presidential debate will take place this Wednesday night. Get ready for another round of back and forth between Obama and McCain. McCain will continue to show wisdom and courage when it comes to national security and Obama will continue to make promises of national health care. Oh what a great country we will be when everyone will have health care, but only those who work will pay for the health care. That's fair, right? Most of us have had "national" health care at some point. When we lived with our parents, they gave us an allowance, paid for our housing and paid for our health care. How many of us would want to move back in with our parents for the free health care? I love my parents dearly, but moving back in with them would cause my dad's beard to get greyer, my mom to take more cigarette breaks in the garage and myself to simply sit back and watch television while basking in the glory of my newly found free health care. That would be the life man!! And then, reality would set in. I would soon realize that I no longer had a job, my mom and dad were telling me when to be home and my dad was starting to lose his hair from his new debt of paying my health care. My parents would have assumed the role of the government under Barack Obama. They would, in essence, own my health. National Health Care is not a good idea friends. The only exception would be those citizens who are under the age of eighteen with parents that do not work. After your eighteenth birthday,  you're on your own. If you really want everybody to have health care, then donate to charity. If you believe it's such a good idea, walk over to your neighbors house and knock on the door. When they answer, tell them that you want to start paying their health insurance bill. I'm sure they will thank you numerous times and you can go home knowing that you have done your part to ensure that one more household in the United States will be going to bed with health care. How many people that believe national health care is a good idea actually donate to charity? Ask them. After they go off on a ten minute tangent on why we never should have invaded Iraq, you will be suprised to find that many of them have never written one charitable check in their lives. They say that everybody deserves it, but when it comes to putting their money where their mouths are, the checkbook stays in the back pocket. Amazing isn't it? Saying one thing but doing something that totally goes against what you are preaching! Sounds like someone I will see on tv this Wednesday debating Senator McCain.

The American People Should Demand More

Well, here we go again. Another news cycle dominated by the "Did Sarah Palin have a right to make the Alaskan police chief fire her ex brother in law" story. It absolutely baffles me that more Americans know about Sarah Palin firing her ex brother in law than know about Obama hanging out with Bill Ayers, the self described terrorist. More Americans know about Sarah Palin's seventeen year old daughter being pregnant than know about Mr. Obama saying that American troops were air raiding innocent villages, killing innocent people. More people seem to know and care about Sarah Palin's personal life than know or care about Obama's professional ignorance regarding foreign policy. At least that's what the media would like you to think. Believe it or not, there are channels out there that talk about the real news in this country. And if you cannot find the right channels, you could always pick up a neutral newspaper or magazine. The problem is, as Americans, we expect to be spoon fed all of our news. And to make it worse, we think that "If they say it on the news, than it must be true." Man are we wrong. I challenge you to sit through just ten minutes of Keith Olberman on MSNBC without throwing up your dinner. Can't be done. Try watching CNN for more than thirty minutes. You know, the channel with fifteen liberal talking heads and one conservative persona that they shove clear over to the side of the screen so you can see just past the left earlobe. It's crazy. But worse than it being crazy is that we, as American citizens have let it happen. I have sent several emails to MSNBC asking them to be more diverse with  their commentary and get the same automated response each time. That's fine. I'll just quit watching. And, the point is, if we all quit watching, they'll have to act on our demands. My argument is not that all news channels should be conservative channels. My point is that all news channels should have a balance of liberalism and conservatism mixed together. Let the American people decide what they think is right and wrong. Do not just spoon feed us one point of view. But in the end, if things do not change, there will always be sportscenter every night at ten.

McCain / Obama

Issue after issue has been discussed during this election cycle and one thing is really disturbing to me. The issue of national security seems to have slipped everyone's mind. It was only eight years ago that the world as we know it was changed in a very drastic way. Terrorism became all too real for us as Americans. They had made it into our own backyard. The country, back in 2000, rallied around President Bush and our troops and vowed to destroy the very terrorist organizations that were responsible. Fast forward to this years election and you would think that 9-11 never happened. Senator Obama stumbles over every foreign policy question that is asked, so guess what? The media stops asking him those types of questions. Senator McCain stumbles over every economic question that is asked, so guess what? The media creates newer economic questions on a daily basis. The bottom line is so easy to read that is is scary more Americans don't seem to realize it. If terrorists rear their ugly heads in our backyard again, the economy means nothing. Your bank account means nothing. Your mortgage means nothing. Now, don't get me wrong. The economy is very important and drastic steps must be taken to make sure we correct the problem. However, national security is and always will be more impotant. John McCain has been there, my friends. He knows the might of the military and knows what it is like to sacrafice for the country. I pray to God that the American people decide to give him another chance to serve our country. This time as the President of the United States!
