I just don't understand it. Why is it that every time the government tries to get involved in something they have to go against everything that the majority of Americans stand for? Why is it that the national consensus only matters if the national consensus agrees with the particular government intervention that is being called for? Take the issue of national health care. Tucked deep inside of this bill, page 110 of section 222 to be exact, there is a clause that states abortion will be allowed under the proposed government run health care plan. Did you know that? Whether you agree with the right to an abortion or not will not be argued here. There is an underlying issue that must be brought into the light of day. I know, I know, our politicians aren't used to doing things in the daylight where everyone can see what's happening, but bear with me for a moment. Under this Pelosi backed bill, everyone who is enrolled in the government health care plan, and we all know that eventually everyone will be financially forced into it through unbearable tax rates on private policies, everyone will pay an abortion premium! Don't believe me? Think I am some crazy right wing zealot? Read page 96, line 16, section 213. It's right there for all to see. The problem is nobody's looking!! Everytime that an individual sends a check to good ol' Uncle Sam for their health care premiums, the government sets aside a portion of that premium for abortions. That absolutely makes my stomach churn!! By doing this, the government is telling you that they do not care about your individual ideology or morals. They don't care if you think that abortion is a sin or immoral, you are still going to fund it via your tax dollars. This is a perfect example of why we have got to make sure that government stays as far away from our personal lives as possible. As citizens of the United States, we do enough to damage our moral standing in the world. Do we really need the governments help in that arena? I think not. When it boils right down to it, I would rather quit my job and live under the nearest overpass, as long as there is an IHOP nearby, than send my tax dollars to Uncle Sam so that he can help pay for something that I find to be unacceptable. Read the bill people, and call your Senators and Representatives! You will realize, when you take the time to read it, that you are being asked to pay for things that you alone will have to answer for later, and the government will not be standing at that gate with you!!
